Safe Infant

Safe infant tips. What you need to know in order to have a safe infant.

Safe Infant

When it comes to raising a safe infant you can never be too careful or too safe. Everything we take for granted we now need to take into consideration. What we look at as everyday objects are now hazardous to babies, infants and little children. We need to go back to basics and start from scratch. Look at everything from an infant's point of view, or at least use common sense. Think of everything as a potentially dangerous situation. It's better to be safe than sorry. And remember, you're trying to raise a safe infant. A safe infant turns into a safe child, which in turn grows up to be a safe adult.

A Lesson in Raising a Safe Infant

Car Safety -- Always use the correct car seat for the age, size and weight of your child. Five-point harnesses are the safest. Infants less than a year old and less than 20 pounds should be placed in the back seat facing the rear seat. Recline the seat to a 45 degree angle. Never place infant in front seat, especially with a passenger side airbag.

Crib Safety -- Place baby on back when sleeping, never face down or on side (the baby can suffocate). Make sure the crib bars are no more than 2 inches apart. The baby's head can either get stuck, or the baby can roll out completely. Do not put baby to sleep on soft surface (e.g. pillow, cushion, etc.)

High Chair -- Always secure infant in with the safety strap. Keep high chair at a safe distance from stoves and any other objects or appliances that can hurt the infant.

When it comes to raising a safe infant it isn't as easy as it sounds, but it's not as difficult either. Do whatever it takes to make sure your infant is a safe infant.
