Safety

When it comes to safety, we usually think about fire safety, home safety and every other safety issue. But how often have we thought about personal safety? Not very often. Our own personal safety is just as important as any other safety. If we don't protect ourselves how can we protect others? The first order of safety is keeping yourself safe. It's just like on an airplane, they tell you to apply your mask first before assisting others. You won't be much help if you yourself can't function properly. Here are some safety tips for different scenarios. Keep yourself safe.

General Safety Measures
Home Safety:
Install peepholes in your front door.
Ask all delivery people for proper ID
Always keep windows and doors secured, even when home -- ESPECIALLY WHEN HOME
For women who live alone, on mailboxes, only put last name and first initial
Never hide spare keys

Office Safety:
Do not leave purse or wallet lying about
Never leave valuables or money in the office
Mark your personal possessions with your driver license number
Always walk out with someone when working late

Elevator Safety:
As discriminating as it sounds, if you are suspicious of someone on an elevator, wait for the next one
Stand near control panel; press panic button (alarm) if in trouble

Outdoor Safety:
Try to avoid walking alone in the dark; never jog alone at night
Always be aware of what and who is around
Always walk with confidence (this especially goes for tourists)
Always walk facing traffic
If someone asks for directions, do not get close to the vehicle
if you feel like you're being followed, walk fast and walk in a crowded area

Hopefully with these safety measures you'll find things a lot more secure and safe. Never feel bad for not trusting a stranger or if you seem rude. Safety comes first, and that's all that matters.
