Car Safety
Not taking car safety seriously can have devastating effects, and not just on you the driver. We all know what can happen when someone on the road is not interested in car safety. Unfortunately the only thing we can do is make sure that are concerned about and practice car safety.
Stay away!
This is by far the most ignored advice given to us about car safety. We cannot accept the fact that staying closely behind someone on the road will not really get us there any faster, but still many of us stick right behind the person in front of us. What will happen if someone, somewhere along the line has to suddenly put on their brakes? Yes, it can happen to you too and it does to many other people who do not think that it can happen to them. Driving closely behind someone is detrimental to car safety because you will not have the time to stop if the car in front of you does. And it will be your fault because you rear-ended them. You will soon have much higher insurance rates - they will sky rocket and you will only have had to stay farther away from the person in front of you.
If you have children that are riding in the car, get a good car seat. This is one of the few things that you should definitely not be getting second hand. get it brand new with the instructions intact (and then READ them!). Many people find instruction manuals very tedious, oh, no, wait, actually it is all of us - so suck it up for this and read through them all. If the carseat is not properly installed then it is worthless and that little bundle of joy deserves to be as safe as is humanly possible. The seat should always be rear facing until the child reaches a year old and is at least 20 lbs. They are the safest passengers in the car when they are facing backwards, even if a child cries they are safer watching the view as it grows farther and farther away.
